With obesity on the rise, and taking actions to lead a healthy lifestyle, a weight lifting program has many benefits for women. As women, we tend to focus on cardiovascular workouts to keep ourselves healthy, while virtually ignoring our strength. Weight lifting programs will allow us to build and maintain our strength while staying healthy. Let us look at some reasons why female weight training is a good idea.
When you begin a weight-training program, you will reduce your risk for a variety of ailments that plague many as they age. You will reduce your risk of diabetes, heart disease, osteoporosis, and even arthritis. You will build muscle mass without becoming bulky. Women produce less of the hormone that causes the bulk up with increased muscle mass, so while you will not appear bulky, you will gain tone and definition, giving your body an overall better appeal.
Building muscle mass means that you will lose body fat. As you train, your body will burn your fat storage centers to use as energy for muscle development. Loosing body fat means that will you become happier with yourself, and less likely to become depressed.
With weight training, comes strength. This means that your daily activities will be less strenuous to perform. This increases your efficiency, and essentially puts more time back into your day. We all know we could use a few extra hours, right?
