Basic Strength Training Program For Beginners

Strength Training For Beginners

You have decided to begin a strength training program, because you know it will help you build muscle, while losing fat, and overall become a healthier person.  However, you must realize that in beginning anything, there may be some issues you run into.  Remember to start slow, and as long as you stay steady and keep with the program, you will see results within about four weeks.

To start with, you will only need three sessions lasting 30 minutes each.  This does not seem like much, but once you get started, you will see why it works just fine.  You want to be sure that you follow your guidelines and do so exactly.  Pushing yourself over your limit will likely cause injury and hinder you from your workouts all together.  This prolongs the progress of your goal and certainly does not bring you any closer to instant gratification.  It will do nothing for your macho complex either, when you get hurt in front of all the veteran weight lifters.  Do only what you feel you can do, and nothing more.  When you are ready, you can increase the weight you lift, and the resistance against it to continue building strength.  When you see you can lift weight with ease, add on more weight, continuing until you plateau.  When this happens, take a break with a smaller weight for a while and go back to the larger ones.

Do not work all the muscle groups of your body every time you work out.  Focus on one area per workout, achieving a whole body workout for the week.  Too many workouts of the same muscle groups so close together could cause injury as well.  Remember to warm up with a cardiovascular work out to get your blood pumping and to stretch before you start to prevent injury, as well.

Make sure that you have comfortable clothing and shoes on, as well as a large water bottle to make sure that you stay hydrated during your workout.  You should always, like with any workout, drink plenty of water before, during, and after your weight training workouts for the day.

The most important thing to remember is to prepare yourself mentally as well as physically for this venture.  You do not just get in a car and start driving without some prior knowledge and practice do you?  Do not go into this blindly and do whatever looks cool.  Research and learn what is best for you, and eventually the strength and body you desire will be yours.
