Ab Workout Myths

As you know, firm, sexy, abdominal muscles are perhaps the most desired toned portion of the body in American culture.  Many of us, however, do not have these sexy muscles we want.  Is it because we do not have the motivation?  Is it because we are all fat, overeating, slobs?  Not quite.  It can safely be blamed, at least in part on the fact that there are so many ab workout myths circulating all over the internet, and because each health professional will have a different opinion regarding the best ab workout to use for developing muscle tone.  So, we will look at some of the common ab workout myths so that you can stop wasting your time on methods that we know do not work the way we hope they will.

All the crunches in the world will never earn you the washboard abs you seek.  You must melt the layer of fat that covers them before anyone will ever see them.  So, who knows?  You could already have fantastic ab muscles, and need a fat burning workout!

Doing side crunches will reduce love handles, right?  Well, wrong.  Getting rid of the fat will do that.  Trianing the obliques will strengthen the muscles underneath your love handles, which will potentially create the illusion of larger love handles as the muscle grows!

Remember that men and women have the same muscle, which is toned in the same way.  You should not work out differently.  It is the testosterone in a man that makes him bulky, and the lack of the higher levels that keeps a woman sleek.

Now that you know what not to do to improve your ab workout and muscle tone, you should have a better inclination of how to go about your ab workout.  However, with all of this in mind, you must still realize that the ab muscles are generally the hardest ones to tone.
