Best Muscle Building Exercises

 

When you start a muscle building routine, there is often a question of what the best muscle building exercises to use are.  Many people jump right into a routine without having given it much thought, and therefore are not really sure of what to expect.  So, before you being a muscle building routine, you should understand the differences between the types of muscle building exercises and then decide which ones are the best muscle building exercises for you.

Compound muscle exercises are those that work multiple muscle groups at once across a joint to build muscle.  Isolation muscle exercises are those that work only one muscle group at once across a joint to build muscle.  Some would believe that isolation would be the best muscle building exercises; however, this is not really the case.  Compound muscle exercises are the more efficient ones to use because they work more than one muscle group at a time, allow for a heavier load, and do more work in the same period of time.  Compound exercises like the squat work multiple muscle groups and allow you to lift more weight.

Now, let us look at free weight exercises versus machine exercises to see which the muscle building exercises are better for you in that respect.  The best muscle building exercises are those which are done with free weights.  The reason for this is because the machines make the exercises easier to perform, and therefore you are relying on the machine to do some of the work for you.  When you are relying on the machine to do some of the work for you, then you cannot build the same strength that you would with free weight exercises.  The free weight exercises require you focus more, and actually do more work that the machine weight exercises do, allowing you to accomplish more in the same period of time.

The best muscle building exercises for you will depend on which part of the body you are trying to strengthen.  If you are looking for an overall muscle workout, then you want to focus on general muscle building workouts, where as if you are focusing on building your arms, or your abdominal muscles, you will want to focus on the best muscle building exercises for those parts of your body.  The most important thing to remember is that your health is what matters.  Do not try to do too much at once, and only take what you can handle!
